Quercus look, Brant’s oak, is a species of oak native to Western Asia. Brant Oak has most recently been assessed for The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2018. Quercus brantii is listed as Least Concern.
The Brant Oak or Persian Oak is a deciduous small tree. The species is found either in pure stands or mixed with other oaks such as Quercus infectoria susbp. boissieri, and Quercus libani. It might mix with Quercus cerris, Quercus coccifera subsp. calliprinos and to a lesser extend with Pinus brutia, Styrax officinialis and Paliurus spina-christi. It thrives between 350 and 1,700 m altitude.
The situation of the species, its threats and conservation status remain unclear. A continuing decline in the population may put the species as near to threat in the near future, if conservation measures are not put into action. No information available about population size. However, it is the dominant species in the western and southern Zagros mountains in Iran, as well as the Kurdish mountains in Iraq.
